Despacito is a 2017 song made by Puerto Rican singer Luis Fonsi. It was the single that became the most streamed track in the world within 6 months. The single a mix of pop music and reggaeton did not just bring interest in reggaeton but also attracted attention towards Latin music in general. Billboard's Top 100 featured two songs which were Spanish mostly, and four in 2016. The popularity of Despacito reached its peak in the year 2017. In 2020, 41 mostly Spanish songs will make the top 100. Justin Bieber's bilingual version of Despacito was released in 2017. After that, some of the most pop stars began to collaborate with reggaeton performers. Drake collaborated with Bad Bunny on MIA (2018), and Madonna worked with Maluma for the release of Medellin. By 2020 a few reggaeton artists were expressing displeasure at its inclination towards mainstream but a new generation namely Rauw Alejandro, sought to continue the evolution of reggaeton. It was often associated with electronic dance as well as different types.
