Dolly-Parton

Dolly Parton, who was born in Locust Ridge Tenn. on January. 19. 1946 into a very poor family with 12 kids eventually included, discovered early that she could escape the hardships of her life by using a vivid imagination. Before she learned to write and read, she began to compose her own songs. In the year she turned 8, she got her first electric guitar. She started singing at a Knoxville Tenn Radio Station. The same year she released her debut recording for Gold Band Records a tiny independent label. She made a name for herself locally while still at high school, but always dreamed of having a bigger stage. When she graduated from high school in 1964, she moved immediately to Nashville. The first charting record she had for Monument Records included Dumb Blonde and Something Fishy both in 1967. In the year 1967, Porter Wagoner was looking for the next girl to perform on the show he had syndicated to television. Parton took the job in the year 1966. She joined RCA Records in 1968, and then the Grand Ole Opry was founded in 1969. The band split in 1974 after her own hits such as Joshua Coat of Many Colors & Jolene beat out the collaborations. Following their breakup, Parton wrote the song I Will Always Love You for Wagoner and it debuted at Number. For the first time, in 1974.
