Anna Paquin, a Canadian-New Zealander actress. Paquin was born in Winnipeg was raised in Wellington and made her debut as Flora McGrath when she played the role of Flora McGrath in The Piano. She won an Academy Award at the age of 11 years old for Best Supporting Actress. Anna Paquin full name Anna Helene Paquin, born July 24, 1982 Winnipeg Manitoba Canada. Canadian-born New Zealand actor who won the Academy Award as a youngster in the category of Best Supporting actress for acting as the bright and interesting child of Holly Hunter's main role in The Piano. As a result of an audition, Flora McGrath was cast as the daughter of a Scottish musician. Flora McGrath is the daughter of the mute Scottish musician who moved to New Zealand to marry in the 19th century. As a teenager, her family moved from Canada to the United States. Paquin was in a brief role in the film's title role when she was just a young girl as part of Franco Zeffirelli's Jane Eyre (1996) and she was a leading character in the movie Fly Away Home (1996). Paquin played Frankie Addams as a child in the TV version of Carson McCullers novel The Member of the Wedding. Paquin was also in the role of Queen of Spain, in Steven Spielbergs 1997 movie Amistad. She played teenage girls in of Hurlyburly (1998), She's All That (2000), A Walk on the Moon (2000) and played the character of the polexia Aphrodisa groupie on the screen in Almost Famous (2000).
